The monumental bronze Kamakura Daibutsu is a National Treasure counted as one of Japan's three greatest Buddha statues. It was built in the middle of the 13th century and has been preserved in a state close to its original appearance.

Built by Minamoto no Yoritomo and the Kamakura shogunate, Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine dates back nearly a thousand years and has long been revered as a guardian deity in Kamakura, the historical home of the first samurai.There are several shrines to visit within the Hachimangu’s precincts.

Built in the 14th century, the ancient Hokoku-ji temple is famous for its bamboo grove with 2,000 bamboo trees. Visitors can rest at Kyuko-an tea house on the temple grounds and admire the bamboo while enjoying matcha green tea and sweets.
